Lifestyle

Welcome to my (our) nomadic journey!

As a full-time RV-living family, we have embarked on an exciting adventure, exploring the beauty of the United States while balancing work, homeschooling, and family activities. One question I get often, is "How do we manage to do it all at the same time?"  So, I wanted to make space on our page to share tips and experiences as we go. Of course, I have to include how my planners keep the entire process organized. I will also talk about maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle, embracing minimalism, having fun, and cultivating a growth mindset throughout the journey. Let's begin!

Harnessing the Power of palnning to enhance our lifestye.

When you're constantly on the move, it's essential to have a reliable system to stay organized. Planners (as you may already know) are my lifelines.  basically, they (yes they... check out my "planners" seccion for why I have more than one, I have good reasons I promise) help me track everything so I don't forget.  Lately, I have been enjoying Notion as my go-to digital planner. But, of course, I have to have physical planners for my brain to connect, you know what I mean?

To maintain a cohesive schedule, I rely on color coding. This visual approach enables me to quickly identify individual responsibilities and allocate quality time for family, self-care, marriage, etc.

Whether it's a homeschooling lesson a business task, or a hiking trip, my planners keep me (us) on track and ensure we make the most of our time on the road.

Thriving in Homeschooling:

As a homeschooling family, we have the freedom to design our children's education around their interests and the locations we visit.

By outlining overall goals, lesson plans, and "field trips" in advance, I ensure a well-rounded education while embracing the unique learning opportunities each destination offers for them (and us).

To enhance the experience, I take advantage of online resources like Khan Academy and MiAcademy.  Out of all the platforms we have used throughout the years, these two are by far my favorites.

These platforms offer a plethora of courses and learning approaches for children of all ages. By incorporating interactive and engaging lessons, we create a dynamic educational environment that fosters growth and curiosity.

But, it is not all "online" education. I have always encouraged my kids to seek learning opportunities in our daily lives. Social events, community gatherings, and simple day-to-day activities. I believe this relaxed approach allows them to learn life skills that they will ACTUALLY use... you know.

Balancing Work and Adventure:

Maintaining a work-life balance is crucial for my nomadic lifestyle. As a digital entrepreneur, I have the flexibility to work remotely, but it's essential to set boundaries to avoid burnout. ( I could easily work 24h non-stop when I am really enjoying whatever project I am working on.) But, of course, that is a no-no. So, I have practiced establishing dedicated work hours by scheduling my work in advance. This way, I (we) can fully immerse in our travels without compromising professional commitments.

This way, we strike a harmonious balance between work and adventure, enabling us to embrace the lifestyle.

Staying Healthy, Happy, & embracing Minimalism as a family

Healthy habits

To stay healthy on the road, we focus on maintaining an active lifestyle. We include time for physical activities such as walking, playing sports, biking, or simply being outdoors. I also leverage fitness apps and YouTube workouts to stay motivated and fit, regardless of our location.

Embracing a happy and growth-oriented mindset is vital for our family's well-being. I cultivate gratitude by journaling daily, appreciating the wonders of each destination, and the blessing of our adventures together

Healthy eating

Even before we started living, I always tried to embrace clean eating and healthy habits. But, now not only keeping up with this habit is essential for maintaining our bodies healthy, but we just do not have space to fill with comfort food. So we are mindful of what we buy.

I also encourage my boys to cook for the family, my youngest loves making breakfast for us all and I love seeing him choosing a good balance meal and cooking it all by himself.

Remember when I said, daily-activities counted as a homeschool lesson in our home? This is one good example. We want to ensure that our kids are ready for the real world and having this skill among all others will be beneficial for them and their future families later on in life.

But, even with a good planning system in place and great healthy eating habits. We still need help keeping up sometimes. So one thing I do for my peace of mind and time management is order some of our weekly meals from Hello Fresh.

Hello, Fresh is not only delicious. but, they offer meals for most types of diets. All kinds of cooking styles and all managed in a super user-friendly membership site that allows you to plan your meals for weeks in advance, yes weeks!

Oh, and yes, a great choice for the budget conscious.

We love the flexibility of skipping or pausing some deliveries if we have to. And the variety of unique recipes you get to choose from week to week.

Here is a quick example of my meal planning for a week when we are mixing hello fresh and other home recipes:

For example, I can choose to have 2-3 meals delivered each week for the four of us that will give us the meals for those days. (And when I say meals, I mean everything that you need to cook that meal, everything!)

Then for the remainder of the week, if we do not have leftovers (hardly ever, the meals are yummy!) Then, we plan to have other ingredients for other meals, when we cook from our recipes, we try to cook for at least two days at a time, We feel that helps with waste and save us money in the long run.

In my meal plan I also include eating out because, this girl needs to leave the camper at least once a week... lol

Minimalism as a family

Living in a compact space like an RV encourage us to adopt a minimalist mindset constantly. I am one that likes to decor my space and make it cozy.  But, there needs to be a place for everything and everything in its place for me to actually be able to enjoy it.

Here is a quick example of what I mean. This is a our latest RV home. in this small space we have the kitchen, the dining area, the livingroom and the coffee bar. All in one space. So, as you might imagine it is imperative that it stays organized. Could it be more "minimalist" ?, yes. But, I also like my little boho things, cozy pillows and holiday decor. So, it is ok, to have "things" , organization is the key and yes, this is still considered minimal.

Thought the past two years we have been more and more inclided to quality over quantity and experiences over possessions.  It is a process, and it does take time. But, it is so worth it. I love seeing how far we've come and I know that a year from now I will be amazed with how much we will continue to grow moving forward.

I hope that you continue to check back often to see where our journey takes us.
